Assessment of parents within the community is an all encompassing process where parents are monitored and observed in their ability to recognise and meet their own needs and the needs of their children within the home and extended community.
Assessment of parents within the community provides the opportunity to examine a families functioning within the wider environment, how they form and maintain appropriate relationships and consider the impact this has upon their ability to care for and protect their child. The assessment process provides local authorities and the Court with a clear picture of the family and impact on the child.
We regard community assessment an appropriate alternative to residential assessment for families where safety of the child can be managed with minimal disruption.
The assessment process and timescales can vary depending upon the nature and complexity of the referral.
