Day assessment provides parents with an opportunity to demonstrate their potential ability to care for and protect their child and for the service to provide the local authority and Courts with evidence of a parents capacity to change.
We regard day assessment as a useful preliminary process normally completed over a four week period. It benefits parents who have experienced a sustained break from the caring role and where questions have been raised about their ability to engage in residential or community assessment.
Our priority is to complete the assessment as quickly as possible to safeguard the stability of a child's current placement, and prevent unnecessary delay for their future well being. The assessment will confirm any benefits for the child and parent to complete a residential assessment or community assessment.
